12,000 dollar is a completely ripoff. That's not even remotely close to "cheap". It's a 2008 for chrissakes. Go lookup the price on anything - KBB, Nada, Edmunds - guide value on that car for private party is roughly 12,500 *IF* it was clean. It's not.
Tack on the fact that this car has a rebuilt title, and has been modified? "talking him down to 12k" is nothing. He can't put a car with a rebuilt title at the same price point as one with a clean title and expect to get a buyer, unless you're a sucker.
That car is not worth more than $9k on a good day.
Don't waste your time or money on this unless the seller is willing to come down to what the car is actually worth.
