It is actually looking for the brake pad circuit to be open and then closed again. I would disconnect the sensors. Power on the car and let it sit for a few minutes, and attempt a reset (obviously wont reset since they are disconnected). Then reconnect all the sensors, power up the car, and attempt to reset.

I remember having to go through some weird process like that with my M3 to get it to reset fully.
So my mechanic ended up doing this (drving the car with the sensor disconnected) but about 6 times. It finally reset to 5,000 miles but not higher. After 7.5 days of track time, it has actually gone up to 6,000. 2 more track days in this car and then hopefully I will find a dedicated track car and retire the 135i to daily driving and maybe auto-x.
