You're absolutely right, and we are working towards adding friendlier offsets for the 1 Series.
The 1M has a bit more room to work with, and we recommend the following fitments:
Staggered:
Front: 18x9.5" ET22 with a 265/35-18 tire (typically a direct fit, but a touch of negative camber may be needed depending on tire brand and ride height)
Rear: 18x10.5" ET22 with a 285/35-18 tire
Square:
Front/Rear: 18x9.5 ET22 - 265/35-18 (typically a direct fit, but a touch of negative camber may be needed depending on tire brand and ride height)
Front/Rear: 18x10 ET25 - 275/35-18 (negative camber required up front)
