Yes, the filter housing is a bolt on. On the N51/52 an oil to water heat exchanger is attached to the housing such as on the 528i, on the turbo cars a block that attaches hoses going to a oil to air heat exchanger is used. I have the 528i version ready to go, but I'm thinking of getting the turbo hose block, an AN hose adapter from Turner and using an aftermarket oil cooler mounted where the turbo cars have their intercooler. My car is an N51 and I'm concerned about the radiator capacity. The radiators in N51s are Premair coated and are part of the emissions system, so I can't get a fancy large capacity radiator to deal with the extra heat from the oil if I were to use the oil to water exchanger.
