It's possible. I've seen it before and not even in the northeast where you guys have salt and snow. But, not with a OE sensor in a OE downpipe.

That price you got quoted is usury. Shops can charge whatever they want, and they do, but I wouldn't support that one if you can help it.
To be fair, that price includes both new O2 sensors, but it still seems insane.
