Like, play in the steering wheel itself? My M3 rack seems to have play in it too. Not sure if they all do or not, but, BMW will tell you that anything <1/4" is normal.
M3 and 135i outer tie rods are essentially the same. The only difference is the length of the threads. Some people say that M3 outer tie rods are too long and they can't get toe in spec.
