Eh, the Kia is into crossover territory but - it's not that big, just looked and it's almost identical to my X3 which isn't a big car. Then again everything is getting bigger, so if you're looking for a small EV your options get pretty limited especially if you want it to be reasonably fun or luxurious even a bit. Seems the BMW i40 is actually longer than the Kia.
Any battery gets worse in the cold. I have experience making batteries but haven't kept up w/ what the different manufacturers are using these days as tweaks of the same basic concept. Every EV will be worse in the cold, but - maybe the KIA is even worse than the rest.
I get the feeling that what you're looking for doesn't exist yet. It's not impossible, just doesn't exist yet.
