Yes, that works. The simple rule is - if you can see your own car in your side mirrors, while in your normal driving position - then you will have blind spots. This can easily be corrected by simply adjusting each mirror outwards until you no longer see the side of your car. After all, do you need to see the side of your own car? Why?

Get used to scanning all three mirrors when driving as they should give you a 100% view of the road behind, each mirror giving a different view. This can be demonstrated by looking at something like a mailbox or a parked car on the side of the road. The view of it will be transferred from your front vision, to your right hand side mirror then to the rear view mirror, with it being visible in both mirrors for a split second while the view transfers. This proves you do not have a blind spot.
