According to My Wife...
autos are for girls. Manuals are for women. A poster on another site uses the tag line "I'd buy a Step but my wife can't drive one". I love it, because I don't have to use my wife or hills or traffic as an excuse for buying an automatic. I live in the SF Bay area and drive in SF all the time and traffic is everywhere. Don't care. Not a problem. Oh, yes. Then there's the wife. She'd disown me if I came home with an auto trans. You see, she drives a '98 528i Sport with manual 5-speed, she's got 140K on the original clutch and she commutes in traffic 5 days a week. And she can drive the hell out of that car. Very sexy, indeed!
A BMW with an auto trnmission is a waste. And the paddle shifters, while a wonderful toy, does not turn your ride into a F1 car.
