I thought it would be CAT as stolen recovered if it wasn't returned to the owner. If I do get it back and it is a stolen recovered Category, then I will try my hardest to get BMW to pay for the loss of value.

In the US with BMW Assist, it can be used to assist in stolen vehicle recovery. They can ping the car for a location, similar to what they would do if it was in an accident. That would be the second call I would make after calling the police.
