Well there is also the problem that if you don't buy the car from the same dealer who services it then they wont always give you a loaner. Seeing as I live about 30 minutes away from the one and only dealer in my area a loaner is important to me. Otherwise I'll be stuck having to have someone drive a great distance to come pick me up or pay quite a large taxi bill to get home.

I guess that's where we differ, if I ever have to take my car in for service I'd just have my girlfriend follow me out there. I wouldn't even bother with a loaner even if they offered one, most likely.
Even if you had to have someone come up with you to the dealership, give them $50 bucks and I'm sure they'd be fine with it. $50 is NOTHING when you're talking a savings of thousands for a different dealership.
