A good rule of thumb is the tire section width changes .2" for every .5" difference in wheel width for the same size tire.
Example:
If a 225/40/18 is 8.9" wide on an 8" wheel it will be 9.1" on an 8.5" wheel or 8.7" on a 7.5" wheel.
