1. The sidewall of the tyre will be angled in too far, risking the rim pinching the sidewall and damaging it on bumps.

2. The tyre will be very difficult to mount.

3. The tread will not be in full contact with the road due to it being curved, as the sidewalls are pulled in too tightly.

4. 265/35-18 and 275/35-18 tyres are a bit tall for the 1-series, exacerbating clearance issues, 265/30-18 or 275/30-18 tyres don't seem to be available sizes.

5. Manufacturers only support the fitting of 215/40-18 to 255/35-18 tyres on the stock rear 8.5" rim. The stock front 8" rims will fit tyres from 205/40-18 to 245/35-18.
