The 18x9" ET42 is a bit too aggressive to work in the rear, and wouldn't maximize all available space within the fender to run the widest possible tire.

We produced the 18x8.5" ET45 front and 18x9.5" ET58 rear specifically for the 1-series, since it makes the best use of all available fender space to allow the widest possible tires with minimal (if any) modification required.
It's on KW V3 coilovers and no modifications.

It's just that I've found a set of wheels in that size, I believe they were made for E46 3 Series. I'll be running 225&245 PSS tires. 9x18 ET44 BBS Ch-R are certified for the E82 so hoping the 2mm difference shouldn't be a problem in the rear. But the front is what I'm concerned about. I'd have to drive there and test it on the car, I guess.
According to 1010tires comparing the 9.5 et58 vs the 9 et42 the result is the 9 et42 will have 22mm more inner clearance & will extend 10mm wider.
