When driving on the motorway at 70mph, the noise is not that apparent unless you really concentrate on the noise. Prior the VMR wheels, when putting the foot down to accelerate (especially on the motorway) you could hear the exhaust getting louder. But now, it's muffled a bit by this strange noise.
Oh btw, I find that when coasting/ease of the accelerator the noise is the loudest and also when driving at speeds of 20-30mph. I think beyond these speeds the noise is muffled a bit by the engine noise, however, I can still hear it.
