Is BMW still producing the 1M quarter panels? Any issues ordering? I'm about to start a clone

I was told I got the last set here in the states in April. I’m not sure if BMW USA has gotten more for the states yet or if they will only come directly from Germany now. Best you can do is order and hope for the best.

All we can get is the C pillar panels. They're ~$2400 for both sides.

Is that for 41-00-8-052-627 & 41-00-8-052-628? GetBMWParts in MD priced me at $1,173.38 & $1,176.17 total: $2,349.55

So not too far off price wise.

Yeah. 100%

Took a gamble and ordered some parts that I’m sure have never been ordered before. The 1M rear support towers.

•incorrect information* see next post for update
BMW got half the order right. The left tower is clearly the 1Ms square design. The right tower looks to be the 135i version. Going to see if BMW can get the correct right one before end of the month when the car gets dropped off.

Actually it looks like the 1M uses two different designs. So the parts may be correct. Box design on the Left and Triangle design on the Right. The more you know. Big thank you again for BillDaCat8 for providing so many pictures.

Also placed a last minute order for all the reinforcement plates. Will be using them similarly as BillDaCat8 did. Welding instead of glue.

Yea I’m excited and nervous. The shop I found doesn’t specialize in BMW so I’m trying to give them as much support with parts as possible. They specialize in full restorations of American classics so I’m confident they can get the job done, but I’m sure there will be a slight learning curve for them.

Sounds like you found some artists. I'm sure they'll smash it out of the park

Part numbers for these? Are you recording these (or have others recorded them?) Looking for all the right parts to build a 1M clone correctly as well.

The shop said they will be taking plenty of pictures of the process. I will try and stop by once a week to see progress in person.

Part numbers:

What a surreal moment getting to this stage of the build. Looks like the e92 m3 wheelhouse fits about 98%! Attached is their detailed steps from the bill on how they fit them. Very impressed with the shops work done so far. If they can get the other side done next week. Looks like ill have delivery by October.

• Check fitment of new wheelhouse to new quarter panel
• Cut old wheel house where needed to install new and remove
• Fit new wheelhouse and mark where to trim to fit at the rocker panel
• Bend new flange on bottom of wheelhouse
• Trim wheel house to allow quarter to meet against rocker panel
• Trim rear of wheel house to allow quarter to sit against rear trunk bracing
• Fit quarter in place and check fitment to door, windows and wheel house
• Remove quarter panel and wheelhouse
• Punch holes in wheelhouse for plug welds
• Remove seam sealer from around wheelhouse and rocker panel before welding
• Weld flanges to front and rear of wheelhouse where trimmed to weld to quarter panel and dress welds
• Fit wheelhouse to car, clamp and screw in place
• Weld wheelhouse to inner quarter structure and dress welds to fit wheelhouse brace
• Weld wheelhouse brace in place on car
• Cut and bend metal to make flange for quarter to attach to wheelhouse
• Use shrinker/stretcher to shape flange to match quarter panel
• Clean seam sealer from flanges to be welded for quarter panel for final fitting

Hope all this helpful to the next person in line.

Ended up getting myself a little present to help give the car some bark to go with the new bite.

Also attached the section you get stock without the wireless kit. I’m guessing this is due to emissions. So will be cutting out that blocking plate.

They ended up using the M3 wheel well and 1M support tower. You can see the two locations they had to modify on the M3 parts. Overall not too much modification as I predicted. Will have more pictures to post tomorrow night of the passenger side.
