HP Autowerks, Inc. AST Coilover System for your 128i 135i
Proven on the street and track, this system is unmatched by any other system on the market. HP Autowerk's unique AST dampers matched with our custom Swift springs offers superb street manners and unmatched cornering capabilities for the track. Offering separate external compression(Double Adjustable Only) and rebound adjusters, the dampers can be tuned from street comfort to a full race setup in a matter of minutes.
Not looking for that slammed look? Or just want to retain stock ride hight, but want better handling? We can customize the spring rate and height for you! All other off the shelf coilovers can't do that for you! We use the highest quality motorsport springs sourced from Swift. Why Swift? Swift's R & D team created material, called H5S.TW, which is stronger then regular silicon chrome material. Because of this material, we could make the spring wire thinner, and could wind the springs with fewer coils, which greatly decreased weight while dramatically increasing available stroke. We also use thrust sheets where possible. Here is why: Thrust sheets provide a variety of benefits to coilover systems. As a spring becomes compressed the coils attempt to distribute the energy by unwinding. This is called twisted force. The unwinding makes the spring rate irregular. By allowing the spring to smoothly rotate around the perch during compression, the spring rate will return to normal. Thrust sheets also help dampening and rebound of struts too. Thrust sheet?s bearing action allowing the rotation of a spring allow the load on the spring to be more evenly Distributed which reduces lateral shock shaft load. Increased lateral load on shock shafts cause a reduction in the struts ability to rely on valves for dampening force. *Coilover shown with optional helper/tender springs. Please call for specific applications. *Camber plates are optional, but recommended for best handling performance. *We stock all popular rates of high quality Swift springs. *Custom Swift spring length for customers looking for stock ride heights. *Optional AST 5000 series dampers are available(5300 series shown above). Applications for E36 and E46(including M3), E82, E90, E92, and E93. |

Anyone serious about making their 128 or 135i handle should have the AST coilover system in mind....When combined with proper spring rates and high quality springs, this system not only offers a superior ride on the street, but can also attack any curves on those weekend canyon runs.

Our AST/Swift combo is so popular even AST decided to use Swift springs instead of Hyperco in their coilover systems!
Our AST/Swift coilover system also come with Swift thrust sheets(Others don't)and custom springs rates are at no extra charge(You will pay $100 extra at other dealers). |

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to get these set up to use stock springs and perch heights?
I'm looking at SCCA Solo2 stock-legal suspension options for later down the road. |

How much is this as a complete set? I think this is what I had in mind, not the TC Klines. Which is better in your honest opinion? I have heard about the ASTs and they seem different than most coilovers that I have seen. The reduced weight seems like an appealing factor too.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=257074 Single vs Single(TCK or HPA Koni Yellow coilovers), the AST is better in my opinion, more control and precise damping. Double vs Double, it will be a close call on this one since the double Koni's use motorsport valving package, which is very precise, plus the street ride is awsome. |

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...light=ast+5200 I've said over and over....these AST's are amazing! The 135i was perfect on the street with the spring rates I was running. Nobody could believe how good the car was on the street for as low as I had it. When I autoX'd the car, I was amazed with the performance. I took the E90 M3 to my first BMWCCA DE in September. The car made me a better driver for sure. My instructors were very impressed with how the suspension felt and this was with no tuning or corner balancing. I cannot express enough how good this setup is (especially for a street/track car). It gives you exactly what you need for the track and yet allows your higher spring rates to feel comfortable on the street. I can't wait to get the 4200's on my E30 M3 (they are sitting in my garage). I've said it over and over....Harold is awesome to deal with and that is why I keep coming back to him. I just wish he lived closer to me
