New 135i owner here!
Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and show off some pics of my recent purchase. Bought it CPO with 31,500 miles on the clock (bay area)
First drive I took was on Skyline Blvd and Kings Mountain Road just west of Redwood city. For those of you that live around here I highly recommend this drive. Enjoy the pics! |

Congratulations on your new ride, and welcome to the forums! What are your impressions on the driving experience? What was your previous daily driver?

I fall in love with every one of those white coupes that I see. Really nice car and I'm jealous. You have the same options as me except I have ZCP.

Thanks everyone!
Driving impressions, hmmm. My previous DD was a 2008 Mazda RX-8 so in comparo to the 135i the biggest impression is obviously the power and torque the N55 makes, specially at the low end... I mean its incredible that at virtually any revs the car just pulls. My old RX-8 didn't pull unless you where above 6k-rpm's. But I've driven some fast cars before but none have the drivability of the N55/N54. What impresses me most is if I'm cruising down the highway (doing about 60-65mph and revs at about 2k) and just step on it to pass someone, the car just.... goes. You hear a nice growl and it gets along just fine. Most other cars of similar HP you need to downshift to get that nice pull. I have had the chance to drive a 1M coupe (pic below) and of course theres a little bit of a difference in acceleration. Handling-feel wise; for everyday driving there is virtually no difference except maybe the more aggressive steering response in the 1M. I did't get a chance to take the 1M to its limits and I haven't done so with mine either so I can't tell you under those conditions. Compared to the RX-8 the 135i feels heavier/less toss-able and not as "confidence inspiring" and the RX-8. But in all fairness, IMHO RX-8's are probably one of the best, if not THE best handling car (stock). Its just so well balanced and the suspension is so well tunes and the steering.... is just oh so sweet.... I think and old rx-8 would be an awesome track day car if it wasn't for the rotary. BUT, then again the 135i is supposed to feel a lot more luxurious and it does of course. Everything is smoother, quieter etc etc. Another thing is how good the 135i feels in the highway. The RX-8 was awesome in city driving at 30-50mph but at highway speeds of 75-80mph the RX-8 felt out of its territory... it was loud, passing was a PITA because well... no torque. etc etc. The 135i on the other hand feels right at home, if not held back. On the RX-8 I didn't wanna cruise at more than 80mph because the acceleration was ever more sluggish unless I downshifted. In the 135i cruising at 80mph in 6th gear, the revs are just at when the turbo is starting to kick in so its almost heart-breaking not to go faster, like an exited dog on a leash you keep yelling NO! at Thats all I can think of right now, I guess time will tell. But overall the 135 is just a solid car. No dislikes and of yet. Please feel free to ask any questions!! and also suggest anything I should do as a new owner. I think the first thing I'm gonna do is put some LED angel lights on. the stock halogens kill the look... if anybody knows where I can find some that are the same color temperature as the led's already on there please chime in! Thats all I can think of right now, I guess time will tell. But overall the 135 is just a solid car. No dislikes and of yet. Last edited by rz-jacks; 10-31-2014 at 11:43 PM.. |

Good summary, Rz, I concur. My previous DD was a Mazda MX-5, and I could write almost exactly the same feedback/thoughts that you did.

Congrats from a fellow SF Peninsula 1-er! I'll have to check out your route some day.
A few weeks ago, I drove up to La Honda from Belmont to visit some of my students (I teach 4th grade) at Outdoor Education Camp. I drove through Woodside, up 84. Highway was empty so I was able to go as fast as I wanted - most fun I've had driving in a long time!

Welcome! Congrats, the car looks great, I also live in the (south) bay area and have a AW 135i.
How much are you planning on doing in terms of mods? Looking to keep it mostly stock or are you planning on getting into the aftermarket game? I have some more route recommendations if you're interested...Hw9 to Felton is great, la honda, and others... |

Ralph: I actually think space gray look awesome in this car!
yakuza: Yeah that whole area is full of nice roads. King's mountain is definitely a slow ride since is extremely tight but its a lot of fun. La Honda seems like an awesome road. Looks like it would be definitely faster. I think it would be sweet to get a group together to go around that area and do a loop around La Honda, Woodside etc. jmz: For now I'm keeping things stock with the exception of little things like LED angel's, maybe a CF spoiler lip and maybe some BMW CF bits here and there. AND getting rid of the run-flats of course. For the miles and the condition the car is in I think it would be a crime to start modding it. Down the line I think worthy mods would be mostly upgrading the suspension to M3 parts and adding a LSD. But right now I'm driving nowhere near the limits of the stock setup. I'm definitely interested in route recommendations. I'm totally new to the area (just moved here a week ago) and my dealer is the BMW of Mountain view so every time I go for service it's perfect for taking the backroads back home! And well if anyone else in the area is interested we should get a group together and take a mini road trip one day ( and take some awesome pics of course) |

First, welcome to 1Addicts!

Those roads were quite nice! Then you could always head into Santa Cruz and down the 1 coastal highway. There is also a very NICE automuseum in Danville, Ca. Its near SanFran. That museum was right up there with the MB museum. Very high quality cars and displays. www.blackhawkmuseum.org Dackel

Sounds good. Just PM me or something. Laguna would be a a cool trip as well. It would be perfect for finding an excuse to wear out the runflats and get some Michelins

Love the car! Would love to join in a Bay Area drive, thanks for the tips above. Will check some of those roads out.
The other one I like which is a very quick but fun hop is between 101 and daly city/280. Comes out right by the Wendy's there and the exit to get there from 101 is near Candlestick. Guadaloupe Canyon Parkway https://www.google.com/maps/place/Gu...4488e8275d12b3 It's about 40MPH max but it's wide, median'd, 2-lane and curvy. |

Welcome, and congrats! Yeah you will love the torque available, as you mentioned.... available anytime, anywhere. The flexibility of the N54 and N55 engines is just astounding. Love the color too, but then again, I am biased
