Damn... make sure you will put some shield on hot part. It can run really hot there and melt something. But that thing is a blast... What about your clutch? Or is it automatic?

This was a small budget build. It was my first time building something like this. I decided to purchase my own welding device and just have at it.

I didn't like that the kits for our cars cost 6k+ for single turbo conversion.

Here are a few pictures. Be easy on the input. Remember it's my first time building something like this or welding for that fact.

Everything is stainless steel.

I got a precision turbo 6262 with small ar housing of .64 witch I will be changing later on.

Here are parts I have used

Precision 6262 with e front inlet ar.64 vband in/vband out

Treadstone turbo oil feed drain kit.

3" exhaust all the way out to factory muffler for now.

Precision 46mm wastegate with 12lb spring

Mac boost solenoid

4" big tom intercooler

Looks like the manifold could use some cleaning up, but all in all that’s good work man. Turbo location looks pretty well thought out, you have some clearance to the valve cover though the manifold gets pretty close from those pictures. I bet that has nice spool characteristics for a single.

Since the ‘gate is external- what are you using to tune? What type of power levels you shooting for?

Sweet!

On the 135 I couldn't fit the turbo higher and further back like they do on the 335. I wanted to fit a actual intake filter on it but don't have the space.

I have a procede. Counting waiting to see if I can get a firmware for it. I also need to flash the DME before anything.

The turbo is rated to 700hp I think. But I'm only lookin for 600hp max.

I still need to install clutch so I just fired up the car. Haven't drove it or anything.

Good sh1t bro, Please keep us posted on how the tune goes... I'm going to be starting this project real soon and will have more than a couple of questions for you. So what did you do about the boost solenoids and managing the WG? From the pictures, it looks like the turbo doesn't have coolant lines going to it, if not what did you do with the coolant feeds?

Cool man! Good job. I come from the DSM/Evo world where big turbos are the norm. My only advice would be to make a heatsheild or something to go between the turbo and the valve cover. The 09+ Evo X had a plastic/composite/whatever the hell valve cover and guys were melting them with even stock turbos at high PSI levels. YOu might be able to run a shorty cone filter over the turbo as well. Check out K&Ns site and you can search by filter size and dimensions.

The turbo that I got is the top of the line 6262 by precision. It has a oil cooled/air cooled chra center so it does not take water lines.

As far as the cars water lines I basically capped them off. Also the rear set of oil feed and drain are capped off.

I purchased -4 and -10 an fitting adapters and welded them onto the fitting that is used on the twin setup.

For boost control I'm using a Mac solenoid that's controlling the external wastegate.

Thanks I was kind of worried that in the end I couldn't fit a normal sized filter. I will look into this. It's been difficult to find a heat shield for the turbo since it's a smaller vband. I even had a shop call up precision. They basically said to use any turbo blanket that's for a t3 size. I wasn't comfortable with that answer so I stopped the search.

Your work looks great. FFTEC just posted a video of Terry's top mount 135i. It's the first top mount turbo kit I've seen, and yours being the second.

My jaw is still on the floor with what you said... basically saying screw it and buying a welder, welding for the first time, and getting all this completed.

May I ask, what do you do for a living?!

Ahahah I don't do anything with cars. Even though it's what I have always loved.

I'm a project manager/lead technician for a private audio video company. I basically design and build smart homes.

there's loads of other ones, especially if you check other forums

by loads.. 5 at least? all sexy sexy things haha

and +1 to WOW at welding this up first time. hopefully the welds don't pop or leak lol.

ED: and btw, it looks like in the near future the JB4 may have easier single control than procede, given how terry is developing it on both his cars soon.

ED2: as for filter.. given your newfound welding skills... thought of making up a semi-sealed air box with filter inlet surrounding it? to me that's the best solution, the flat cones sound too restrictive imo.

and how did you space out your O2 bungs to get them out of exhaust flow a bit out of curiosity?

I don't know what I'm doing with the filter as I barely have room for one. I'm using a mesh grill for now. I'm not a huge fan of them.

For the 02 sensor I used the same ones that shiv used. They are by AEM. They sell them in packs of four so used for runners leading to turbo and exhaust.

Welds looked ok. I didn't know what back purging was so the inside of the manifold aren't back purged.

This is the first turbo system I have done. I will be re doing the entire thing and fitting in a bigger turbo with twinsscroll exhaust housing.

I wanted to do the jb4 as I have a procede computer. I also liked the fact that terry gives great support and would do maps custom to your set up.

I haven't done much research myself but I have been told from other forum members the procede is much more power computer.
