E82 120D 2008 LED tail lights
Hey everyone!
I’ve got a 2008 BMW E82 (originally from Germany) with the original non-LED tail lights (the ones with 3 stripes) in the rear and the base headlights in the front. I’m looking to upgrade to LED tail lights, but I’m not sure if they’re completely plug-and-play or if I’ll need any coding or an additional wiring harness. I’ve read a couple of threads about LED tail lights, but I’m not entirely sure whether they’ll work in my car without modifications. Thanks in advance! |

Hi! It's a great retrofit to do, i'm actually considering doing on mine. You'll need a set of LCI taillights (obviously😂
, wiring since the connecting points are different and coding. Honestly i would leave this job to someone that works with retrofits because the coding part, as far as i know, is not that easy. I follow a guy that is currently doing this retrofit on his own car, i'll try to contact him about the procedure and let you know if i get an answer.Since you've done your own research, probably you came across a german forum where a car did this retrofit on a black e81/87 (i don't remeber the model) and there you can see the wiring that he did and he even has coloured pictures showing where the wires need to go, BUT the method that he used is by plugging the LED strip from the taillights to the license plate lights. Personally i would rather stick to the “oem” retrofit with the “correct” wiring and coding but do whatever works best for you. |
