N55 Coil upgrade - new NGK High performance pack?

Hi all,

Purchased a ~100k mile (154k KM) 2011 135i, and I've slowly been doing the usual routine maintenance etc, and planning to upgrade the downpipe/intercooler to run something like MHD Stage1+/2.

The previous owner mentioned to me that the coils are original and would probably need replacing soon, and given that I'm planning to some performance upgrades and replace the VC, I figured its a good time to get some new plugs/coils since I have no idea what condition they're in.

I know a lot of people recommend Delphis as the OE replacement, while a lot of people recommend a bunch of different upgrade paths which the two I've mainly seen are the PR upgrade coils (differing opinions) and B58 coils.

I've also read that those are probably overkill for something like an MHD tune on an N55, however when I went to check on Rockauto I noticed something of interest, looks like they sell a NGK High-Performance pack of coils:

Has anyone heard anything about these or had any experience with them? I'm intrigued because coming from the JDM world NGK is quite highly regarded, but I also can't find a thing about them anywhere online.

They're a bit pricier than Delphis on Rockauto (CAD $29-37 a piece) versus a set of 6 of these NGKs for CAD$317 ($53 a piece), curious if anyone has used these with any success

You’d just be throwing away your money, just get the delphi. An overkill option is a b58 coil conversion but it’s only really beneficial if you upgrade from the stock turbo
