Quaife LSD Install - N55 - Thin Wrench

Hello Boys and Girls,

I own a 2013 135is and have a new Quaife LSD to install. I need a special thin wrench to remove the drive shaft from the diff. I am having trouble finding this thin wrench (I believe its a 50MM). Anyone have one to sell me or point me to a place that sells one? I plan to do this soon.

I can confirm that the wrench needs to be 50 mm. I modified a large open end wrench I had on hand and had to grind down the thickness to make it work. Mine is 12.5 mm thick, and I don't think it will work if it any thicker than that.

The official BMW tool is p/n 335040 and a search on that will find some tool kits on eBay and other places as low as about $100 for a more extensive kit with a few other possibly useful tools included.

A search for "50mm thin wrench" will also find you some options.

(A word of note: the 50 mm nut loosens clockwise looking aft, and you can't counter hold on the 12-point flange nut on the differential (not that you will have a wrench for that anyway). You need to counter hold at the universal joint.)
