The 1M build starts

We will be starting a full 1M build in the next few weeks at iND. The owner is a hardcore M enthusiast that has owned over 20 BMW's in the past 10 years. The Revozport front splitter and rear diffuser just came in today in a 2x2 carbon weave to match the OEM BMW performance mirror caps. I will update this thread once we get our hands on the new M.

Full Eisenmann E82 1M Race performance with 4x83mm tips
ESS tuning
Revozport front splitter and rear diffuser
KW coilovers
Akrapovic Downpipes
iND Cosmetic package (gloss black front and side grilles)
BMW Performance V2 steering wheel with custom VO ring
BMW Performance spoiler with iND CRT style VO paint work
VO painted MS pod + Stack gauges
BMW Performance mirror caps 2x2

Forgive my stupidity but what is the Carbon Fiber piece in the middle? The one between the front splitter and rear diffuser.

I wish! Our dealership oversold the 1M's and we missed out on the shop car. We are looking for an AW 1M right now.

That is THE splitter...must splitters these days are useless because they are simply the rear valence (what you are referring to as the splitter) with the little short fins. In order for a splitter to work properly it must extend underneath the body of the car, and this is exactly what this piece seems to do. Is it functional? I have no idea as it doesn't seem to be long enough.

Check out pictures of a race car so you can see what a real splitter looks like and how it extends underneath the car.

This would be useless considering the OEM side skirts on the 1M differ (are bulkier) from those on the 1-series, so the performance side skirts would look out of place, even if they bolted on.

That is correct the lower splitter on this build is purely cosmetic and the customer loves the look of it

Molding is expensive. The market (consider the 1///m # and potential buyer) is too small to bring in.

I will bring in some CF staff soon as February 2012.
