Heated steering wheel retrofit
Hi,
If I wanted to add heating capabilities to my 128i (no extra packages), can this be done or if I bought a bmw heated steering wheel will it work plug and play? For people that have heated steering wheel how long does it take to warm up and is it really worth the hassle to install it? |

Anyone think if you buy a heated steering wheel, along with the heated steering button, that it will work plug and play or do you think coding and a switch control unit is needed?

I am working on this as well on my 128i cabriolet, as I have already retrofit heated seats, which were plug and play themselves, only needing a new climate control panel in addition. (Although if you have a Cabrio and get the panel from an E82 or E9X it will have to be coded for the roof buttons to work) and my mom had an E84 with heated steering wheel, and it seems definitely worth it. So far the parts I have gotten are the heated steering wheel, bottom steering column trim (with cutout/ button) and a new clock spring (with additional wiring) all from a 3 series. This is a video I will probably be following for most of the wiring:
