Sweet merciful shit...i can't log in...somone post this for me!
I'm not saying I’m awesome.....but the flashing lights behind me say i am so I’m not going to argue! I own a 135i...bone stock....i fell into the BMW clan after being abducted from the local VW dealer. How can I express in words what it feels like to drive a 135i and still keep this report suitable for public consumption and not offending anyone? Driving a BMW 135 is like dating a very attractive and very seductive Latina who may or may not need her medication adjusted and may have some anger and control issues but she’s an underwear model so it’s ok! Do you trust her? Well sure you do! But you know better than to be nice to the pretty Asian waitress because the last time you did that you were stabbed in the thigh with a spoon under the table….after all how dare you look at those low torque women! Sporting only 4 cylinders and no turbos? Shame on you! But you didn’t leave her nope you just hobbled to the men’s room and used toilet paper to treat your wound and while limping back to your table you couldn’t help but notice that all the men in the room were eying your sexy date and all the women hated her. The BMW 135….it’s a special kind of crazy! |

LOL… Yahoo "news" got something right for once. All of us here in the forums understand and appreciate the virtues of the 1-series, but rarely does a non-owner aware.
I cracked up reading the ridiculous comment on the article… well… here it is in case you are curious: "every time i see EVEN A PIC of a bmw, i position my hand as if i have my car keys ready to scratch...Probably a troll… other comments from this person include the advice to move to another country rather than pay off your student loans.

I saw this yesterday and think it was cool that on Yahoo's main page there was a picture of the 1er. I agree with them that the 1 series will be looked back on fondly. I am sure they have been said this multiple time over the past 100 years but I don't think they will be able to keep making cars like this. Emission standards, miles per gallon regulation, safety nuts, ect. I also think that the 1er is going to age well. BMWs have a following and the sportier cars have maintained their value pretty well in the past. I think that cars like the 1er (small, inline 6, RWD) are going to be out of the reach of most people due to a number of factors but if manufactures need to avg. 56mpg the they will need to sell a lot more cars that get 60mpg than cars that get 20mpg and that means that the cars that have the power are going to be priced high due to the lower volume of supply. Also, if you think of about other performance cars from the same generation, I don't think they will hold up as well as the 1er. For example, the Mustang is a great car right now but I am pretty sure that in 10 - 20 years from now it won't feel great. I am sure I am bias but I think that the 1er will be missed and will still be desirable as used cars. However, I think the new 2 series looks great and is going to be more successful than the 1 series in terms of sales volume. The real test is if a car will be missed is what replaces it and I don't think the 2 series is another step in the right direction. If the 2 series is great than the 1er just won't be misses by that many people.
