80% of 1 Series owners think their cars are FWD... Wow.
I found this a bit ridiculous!
Link: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...nt-wheel-drive Meaty Part: Speaking to analysts following the release of BMW’s 2009 financial results last week, CEO Norbert Reithofer revealed that 80 percent of 1-series owners believe they are driving a front-wheel drive car. |

I have a feeling those aren't many of the 135 owners, maybe more of the 128owners that aren't really car enthusiasts. In my area a lot of young girls have 128i convertibles that know NOTHING about their cars loll.
That being said, whenever I would take a girl out, when my car was aesthetically stock, I would get the "awe your car is soo cute" which my response was 0-80 (ThanksJB4) in a blink of an eye to which their response was and mine was and all was good! |

+1. I'm sure there are plenty of people who just want the cheapest BMW just for the sake of status.

This made it to the Bimmerpost homepage. It was also on several automotive websites and I believe it even made it to Yahoo's homepage. Quite a number of people have seen it. If they haven't, too late. Shoulda been there 2 years ago. |

I saw somewhere that the study was done in Europe. The European 1 series engine options are a lot more broad than ours and the extra options are all less powerful. BMWs in Germany are somewhat like Fords and Chevies here. I think these differences help to explain the results.
The other factor that would be true here too, however, is a lot of people are like my late wife. They just want the vehicle to go when they need to go somewhere. They do not care what engine it has, where the drive wheels are, etc.. They just want a tool to get from point A to point B. I'm not sure how many U. S. BMW buyers fit this but I am sure there are some. Jim
