Heard an E90 engine failure story today
from my CA who delivered an 330i last week. A customer of his flew in from WA to pickup his ordered E90 and while traveling back to Washingston state the car had a rocker arm failure. BMW is replacing the engine.
Edit: They (BMW NA) also flew the owner home (WA) and will be flying him back to p/u the car. I do question the failure though. Last edited by SCA; 12-01-2005 at 10:30 PM.. |

One part failed and caused the whole thing to crap out. At their production speeds I'm amazed it doesnt happen more often.

A couple percentage of all manufactureres engines fail, no matter what the model ( a friends fathers brand new Merc S500 is in for a new engine right now, anothers Porsche GT2 got 2 replacement engines in 1000 miles)
A number of cars even get a engine change before they get delivered, and the customer will never know. The VPC's change a number of engines every year. Replacement is plug and play |

All cars have engine failures. I was just at a car place when a guy was taking "redelivery" of his 2 month old audi TT. He drove it for one day when the turbo failed, and they've been fixing it for two months now...
Just a fact of life... It seems my car is broken too...but I'm about to write a whole thread on it. |
