Window regulator DIY?
So, my driver's side window regulator finally failed. This being a BMW, I fully expected it to happen eventually. One of the first jobs I ever did on a car was a window regulator replacement on a 318ti years ago.
So, I've gotten as far as getting the door card off, and I realized how much I hate working on windows. I was doing some window work on my old diesel Mercedes about this time last year, and one small mistake led to a shattered window and a giant mess. I definitely don't want to repeat that experience. Trouble is, now that I'm in the door, I can't figure out what needs to be replaced. Window is stuck down and can't be elevated manually, which seems weird, too. I haven't ordered the new regulator yet, and I suspect seeing the new part will give me some clues, but I really prefer to have a look through a go-by with some pictures before diving into something I've never done. There is a pretty good thread floating around, but all of the pictures are missing - can anyone point me in the direction of something useful? I'm half-tempted to just take the thing to a dealer, but I hate to tap out so soon. Not to mention, the closest deal is at least 90 minutes away, and I already have the job halfway done practically...
