Canister Style Exhaust
Hey Guys,
I've been searching all over the interwebs :-) to see if anyone has placed a Supra Style Exhaust on our cars but I haven't found anything; so I figured I'd reach out to you all. The reason why I'm looking into doing this is because I recently placed Catless DP's, N55 MP, and the Berk Axel back on my car and the thing is way too loud. But that setup is very similar to what you see on Supra's... So that's what I'm shooting for. I know it'll need some custom work but I want that Supra exhaust tone. I want to see if this has been accomplished or attempted before I dive head in. Any suggestions or ideas?

I had a larger canister style exhaust on my KDM Tiburon when I was younger (see pic). It was still tucked way up under in comparison to that one in the link above. The massive exhaust has never really been my forte but some cars do pull it off well. I think the one in the link above is pretty cool and unique to the 1, but I personally prefer a clean, sleek, professional looking exhaust leaving more attention to the body and wheels. It has to sound great but a little chrome/burnt tip is all I like anymore.
my previous "canister" exhaust still was fairly discrete. ![]() Everyone has their own opinion on the way a car should look--if you think its sick, run with it. If everyone modded a car the exact same, it'd be boring. |

+1 Agreed... Well said. My goal is to mix the clean Supra Style with the 1'er euro style.

I don't think that style exhaust should be on this BMW, IMO...
![]() JDM modz doesn't really flow with this car like the other imports.. Last edited by Colt; 04-19-2013 at 11:02 AM.. |

I love the exhaust in the attached thread (guess that comes form owning 2 Supras previously). I now kind of regret going quad!

I understand.. and the crowd seems to be mixed. I love it... I just think the quads are to docile for the vehicle.

I was going to go quad but I always wondered who that JDM style would look; when I saw that picture I was instantly sold. I'm probably going to use a more expensive looking muffler; but the overall style is what I'm going for.

As far as what Cozy said; I'm already sitting on H&R's, I would like some wheels that are a tad bit wider but nothing that's going to poke out the side. The only extreme feature I want on my car is this exhaust...

I think the quad exhaust also makes the vehicle look like a cheap M3...

The thing that bothers me about that exhaust is how low it sits. It looks like its about to drag all over the road. If you're gonna put a fart can on it, at least make it look like a clean install.

How about something like the ARK system
![]() I know looks are subjective but I immediately think "because race car" when I see this ![]() The rest of his car looks good, he even has racing seats and a roll cage in there. But to me it's like they were to cheap to buy or fabricate an exhaust that tucks in nicely like an OEM system. Again to each their own, but any mature car enthusiast will tell you that is the "boy racer" look. Again just my thoughts |

and focusing on the 135i with the canister exhaust; this could easily be tucked up nicely with just a touch of dedication to a job well done. Notice how the section off the mid pipe seems to sag straight away? They messed up. There's a huge cavern up there where the stock exhaust goes. You could tuck the piping and find a can that has the tip exiting low. Keep it tucked and it won't look old school JDM plus you keep the upscale nature that BMWs should retain. Personally if I were making special attraction to the ass end with a 4+" exhaust tip I'd also probably also go carbon fiber on the diffuser to help finish off the business end. It's only money right. ^+1 I agree completely. This can be pulled off better with a little bit more dedication to duty; and money...
To say that this vehicle is deserving of an "expensive euro" exhaust because it's a BMW is just BS to me. Let's not get out of hand people, it's just a 1 series... LOL @ Adam135 though, nice pict.
