Fuel Pump Value

Over the past two weeks I have been chasing my tail and shooting myself in the foot over a fuel issue. Long story short, I replaced LPFP, Fuel Regulator, low pressure sensor and HPFP.

The original issue was a fuel smell outside the car witch ended up being the fuel regulator cracked on the top. I changed that and the low pressure pump at the same time. I screwed the pooch on the fuel line install on the LPFP which led to having my car towed home.

I got a fuel pump and low pressure sensor and installed those only to have the same issues present. When I went back and thoroughly checked my work I found the line that was not seated all the way. Snapped it down tight and all issues gone. Nobody to blame but my dumb ass!

So, here I am with a totally functioning HPFP that has a $50.00 core plus shipping. Thinking, I really should not send it in? What does a fella do with a extra HPFP that is just fine?

Keep the hpfp if you ever plan on big power, you'll want the new one if you upgrade fueling, they get tired over time.

Yeah, I thought about that too. I am just a little concerned that it being a 08 vert with 123k miles, not knowing anything about the first 119k miles. That has got me thinking maybe just keeping it stockish and no getting silly on power.

Only necessary if the pump gets tired with an upgraded lpfp and higher concentration ethanol. Usually with bigger turbos or a single. Short of that, send it back or sell it.

I would keep it as an extra, you never know if the new takes a crap or swap it back and the old one until it gets tired and you have basically new hpfp sitting there. As far power goes you don't have to go crazy shoot for 400s and call it a day.
