weird noise from charge pipe..
ok so i recently installed a bnib map perf charge pipe and used bms intake..
car sounds great.. besides this weird almost rattling] noise before the wooooosh in the pipe.. i noticed theres no mounting bracket to hold down the pipe and i believe its touching some aluminum tube right under neath the charge pipe..(don't ask me what the tube is ) i thought the power steering hoses would b a problem but they have clearance.. I'm almost sure its just shaking with engine when i punch and its rattling on this alum pipe under neath.. is this a common problem?? gonna goto a indy shop and ask if the noise is normal.meanwhile waiting for u guys to chime in.. thanks esteban , swag contribute u fuckers!!! ![]()

I have a MAP CP I'll sell ya. The CP is hitting the A/C line. It's common. You can pull the CP out of the coupler a little bit to give more clearance and no rattle. |

Aftermarket charge pipes are illegal here in CA and probably wouldn't pass a visual smog inspection (that's including the so-called stealth ones), so not as simple as it is for other states. Yes, I could put an aftermarket one on and then change it back to stock for a smog inspection. Might consider that.

what the fuck.. is it a bad design or do they all ride the ac line??
was thinking of putting some rubber hose around the cp so at least it sits on it and not rattle..

From what I've seen/read, most fit the same way. It's a flaw due to space constraints. And somewhat a chassis difference from the E9x to the E8x.
Like I said though, just loosen the clamp and pull the CP out a little. Should be plenty of room to do so. |

Same happened to mine when I first installed but was barely noticeable. Eventually shifted it a little and it's been fine ever since. I don't think they worry too much about the CP hitting anything since it's cold side.
