Question about active steering/ steering angle
Hey guys so I just bought my 135i a week ago. The guy that sold it to me said that the car just had a fresh alignment but the shop didn't know how to align the active steering, but the steering wheel is almost 90° to the left while the car tracks straight. The ride is nice and the car drives completely straight if I let go of the steering wheel but the position of the wheel is killing me. I am getting an error on my idrive for active steering.
So far I have topped off my power steering fluid as it was a tiny bit low. Didn't help. I pulled apart my steering angle sensor and cleaned the little disk. Didn't help. I also readjusted the clock spring, which also didn't help. I hooked up to ISTA and tried to do the active steering realignment and it wouldn't work. Is this something I can have handled if I take it in for another alignment at a shop that knows that they're doing with bmw? Or is this something I can handle on my own? I'm pretty good with my cars, and I work on bmws as a side job I'm pretty capable of doing whatever work it may require. Has anyone dealt with this? Thank you all in advanced! |

Sounds like a poor alignment was done, but I dunno? In my experience the alignment should = wheel is centered but I also don't think I have active steering(?)
