Hood gas struct replacement
The gas hood struts on my 1M have given up. I am afraid the hood will fall on my head if not lifted 100%. Anything less than 100% the hood falls.
Is this any easy DIY? Looks like it is. Anyone else replace them? |

Yes. So easy I'm surprised you had to ask.
Just order the OEM Stabilus struts from FCP Euro and get them at far less than BMW prices and with a lifetime guaranty. Make sure to properly prop the hood while swapping so you don't damage your 1M or yourself. |

Yeah - it's basically the same as my P car. Just stick in a flathead screwdriver on that notch where the arrow is and push the metal spring out. Should be able to easily pop the strut out.
