Hood gas struct replacement

The gas hood struts on my 1M have given up. I am afraid the hood will fall on my head if not lifted 100%. Anything less than 100% the hood falls.

Is this any easy DIY? Looks like it is. Anyone else replace them?

Yes. So easy I'm surprised you had to ask.

Just order the OEM Stabilus struts from FCP Euro and get them at far less than BMW prices and with a lifetime guaranty. Make sure to properly prop the hood while swapping so you don't damage your 1M or yourself.

Yeah - it's basically the same as my P car. Just stick in a flathead screwdriver on that notch where the arrow is and push the metal spring out. Should be able to easily pop the strut out.
