Dinan Wants Your 135 - free software!

From the Dinan website (http://www.dinancars.com/bmw/whats-new):

Dinan is seeking both a 535i and 135i for some further research on performance engine software.

If you are driving one of these vehicles and wouldn't mind parting with it for a period of one week, Dinan will provide you with a free software download valued at over $2000! The vehicle must be delivered to our Morgan Hill, California location. Call 800-341-5480 to speak with a Dinan Performance Representative.

Please contact a Dinan Performance Representative for additional details at 800-341-5480.

My 135i comes in about a week. I would love to get that tune for free, but would they test it while it's in it's break in period? What would YOU do with your 135i, anyone opinion is appreciated. Do people feel that their trustworthy? i mean it's Dinan after all, their not gonna blow your car up, right? They'll just make it so it eats asphalt for lunch

Not sure if I want the software, but I'll take an intercooler and/or exhaust

My 135i is my weekend car with only a bit over 700 miles on it. This is so tempting.

To me, it's utmost obvious that would be a horrible decision to break in the car that way.

If your 135i is just your "weekend car", and you don't mind having it used as a guinea pig, then I'd say go for it. A $2K tune for free is not a bad deal.

Mine is going to be my only car, so I couldn't part with it for a week even if I wanted to. (I guess I could drive my wife's Impreza for a week, but that's not worth $2K to me

Lets just say it'll be a week worth of WOT on your motor. But it's Dinan so I'm sure they're very responsible

This is tempting, especially living in close proximity to Dinan! But I just took delivery and I'm happy with how fast my 1er already is. Any faster and I could really get into trouble. But, like a child on a swing, I'm sure I'll be lusting for more speed in no time.

^ +1. Tell Dinan to come to Michigan. My car should be delivered this week and I'd be just fine with them breaking it in with their tune on it!

Why is all of the "free if we use your car for testing" in CA !!!

Good deal for someone if they can part w/ the car

Seriously. If you live in CA you could have a free exhaust, intake and now DINAN tune. Can't they test in AZ?

just called that customer service number...

they want to test for software so my guess is they won't be driving the car much (but who knows). the rep guy said he thinks they're only looking for 1 135 to test on and they're looking for pre-March production date.

why would they need pre-march? they already have software for that?

i think rbernard is right with the V81 ecu being needed for this test
