Question Can you wide body a E88 1.20i?

Hello, I know base models usually don't get much love, but I ended up owning an extremely clean 08 E88 1.20i. For now, I have painted the car to Porsche's Underberg Green and re-sized replica F80 bumpers to fit on the car. After I started collecting parts for performance mods and taking the build more seriously, I started thinking about applying the 1M wide body kit (OEM, preferably). However, as a newbie to modifying cars and the E8X 1-series chassis, I am uncertain about the difficulties I will face. Specifically the problems that I may face by using a 1.20i as the baseline instead of a 1.35i coupe that everybody else use for building a 1M clone (aside from the obvious: swapping the I4). If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

There are quite a few 1M replica E88s around, it can be done. There is a user who posted about 4-5 years back on his convert 1M

Yes. Be aware the rear quarters are hugely expensive now.

I'm still deciding what to do to finish my coupe. I refuse to spend 16-18k USD on quarter panels alone.

Thumbs up

=> dane083 thanks a lot I will check his thread, my 2 main guides have been TUN3D's & ThicWhip's builds, and they are both E82 coupes. Apparently, the trunk lines are different between the E82 and E88 which is a little weird.

=> ShocknAwe Thanks for the heads up! I know man the prices on them are getting ridiculous. I am contemplating whether to go all OEM for durability and quality, or switch to fiber reps for the rear quarter panels to save money now but deal with problems later... which can prove to be more costly in the long run if reps need constant care. I feel like if I spend $18k just for panels I might get too scared to damage them and then damage them immediately :d

I ordered kevlar flares. Will hand them to the body shop and say put these on or do custom metal flares to match.

Need to order the side skirts bumper and body supports.

Time to decide on wheels and diffuser.
