Dealership quote for water pump replacement

How much is a new water pump installed at the dealership for 2008 128i vert?
And should I insist they replace the thermostat at the same time?
Has 135k kms on it.

Have you called the Dealership for estimate? Are you a BMW CCA member? If not, you probably want to find a reputable Indy mechanic for this job - replace thermostat at same time, yes

Yes do not go to a dealer. Hopefully you are not too far from Edmonton or Calgary; there must be a good BMW indy garage in those cities. Also, any indy garage that does european cars.
I just went to BMW Clubs Canada and found out that there is a BMW Club Southern Alberta. Join them and then they will be able to help you.
Having guys work on your BMW who really donot know BMWs is a kiss of death. I've owned BMWs since 2004 and have never had a problem or a big repair bill.

I'd say compare prices, my local indy is as much or more than the dealer. My dealer also will lower prices some if you stand there and say "dang that's expensive, really?". Indy absolutely will not. So it's case by case. Shop around.

Also pimp, t-stat, $1500 maybe? It isn't a terrible DIY if you're considering it and can do things like brakes, struts.
