Hi do I remove the FMIC grill ?

Can I remove this from the front of the car without removing the bumber or undertray ?

If not is there anyway at all it can be done (without breaking it) and leave the bumper on ?

I want to use the frame of it and fit a mesh grill into it and remove most of the black plastic.

After searching far and wide, there doesn't seem to be away of doing so without removing the bumper or undertray. My suggestion to remove the grill is by using a Dremel tool. It's very precise and will make your cuts look clean.

If you don't want to break it though, then you're probably out of luck.

Looks like his was removed by taking off the bumper - you can see where the bolts used to go on the bumper.

it clips on just like the brake duct slits on the bumper, you have to take the bumper off, which isn't too hard...

jack the car up or put it on a lift, remove the front half of the undertray, and it pulls right out. 5 minutes tops.

go buy a floor jack and some jack stands from sears, they are fairly cheap... then return it afterwards saying your car was too low for the jack or something haha.

there's one with pictures somewhere too... hardest part is using a spatula to unclip the 2 ends, it can be a little touchy your first time.

Locate the plastic tabs on the bumper. The grill will come off inside the bumper but once its unhooked from those tabs you can move it around to pull it out from the front. Be warned it looks retarded if u dont cut out the plastic slats BEHIND the grill and that DOES require removing the bumper. You will also want to cut off the tabs that held the grill in or ur bumper will look like a shark mouth.

How many tabs are there and what did you use to take them off? Also what about those two brackets that are directly behind the grill but directly in front of the intercooler, how are those removed? I kinda don't want to cut the tabs off so if I decide to put the grill back on in the future i can. You think the tabs wont be as noticeable on BSM??

I used a dremel and if ur gonna cut out the bracket u might as well take the bumper off do do it all

I will be refitting the grill. I am going to use the "frame" of it and fit mesh to it and take the blanked ends out to get more air to the FMIC.

How did you manage to unclip the tabs ? I can't even get my finger through the holes to feel how it retains it

I squeezed the bottom part of the bumper where the tabs are and pushed against the grill. Once it got started it came out pretty easily.
