135i Halo Headlamps

Anyone notice how the two inner rings seem to always show up brighter than the outer rings on all these videos we see? It's most noticeable on shots when the car is in a tunnel or sunset.

or it's just me. Either way thats the first change to happen when/if I get the 135i --> xenon colored rings.

Don't get sassy

Going for the 6000k color temperature... or maybe closer to the 4300K xenon produces.

How difficult is that mod? Just changing a bulb somewhere?

inner rings are brighter because they changed the design. I think it's inferior to previous years, but this design does enable you to just change a bulb to whatever color you want. The same bulb that powers the DRLs are used for the angel eyes, high beams as well I believe, but i might be mistaken about that.

Correct on changing the bulb. The ring itself only bends/refracts the light from the bulb. The color output is limited to the color bulb that replaces the OEM part.

The dull yellow color is a thing of the past for me. We are seeing so much more xenon/brilliant white on the headlamps as a design standard. Take Aston Martin V8 Vantage forexample with its LED headlamps.

The contrast between the HID and the dull yellow rings looks nice actually!

Ya that's incorrect. High and Low is Xenon, out of the same bulb. The DRL's are regular halogens, at least on previous BMW's, which power the halos like you said.

Its not rice if its done properly on a BMW. It is rice on anything else. I hate all of these "halo" kits for other vehicles (IE Civic). IMO its like putting BMW Roundell's on your Civic...

At least its not amber, but I do agree that something a brighter white would look very nice...

I know on the hatchback, all 4 halos are the same. But for those of you that are looking to change out the color, I found this pretty cool:

I like the OEM amber color! I think its nicer than the white, blue, purple, etc.

white is obviously more appealing to the eye upclose, but from a distance i think it wont look that great at all. it will stand out too much!

Not that it even matters, but the color differential between the halo and the xenon headlight looks good to me. :iono:
