another allocation question
So i have a deposit down at a dealership. After reading all the stories of people and the allocations of BMWNA i'm a little concerned i'll never see my 1M. I spoke with my salesperson today who I've already done the paperwork and put a $1000 deposit down on Saturday. I asked him how many allocations they have and he said they had 1 allocation which was already purchased and is currently in production with a scheduled delivery of July. My order is next and he told me that BMWNA is only taking one order at a time and my allocation wouldn't be available until the 1st is delivered, but he says my order is in good standing and that i have nothing to worry about, i personally spoke with the general manager as well and he said i should expect delivery in september sometime. should i be worried?

I'm also interested in the answer to this question. I don't have a deposit down yet, but will probably do it soon. My local dealer has one deposit ahead of me but no allocation yet. I'm concerned the dealer will never even get allocation #2. Appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.

Ive had a deposit and a contract signed from the dealer since Feburary and this dealer is very large. They say they will get 4 this year and im #2...but sill no alocations or production numbers. Am i worried...sure, but since its a large dealership i feel alittle better. With less than 1000 comming to the states there will most likely not be enough for everyone who wants one.

The dealers should know how many allocations they are getting. For example Jet Mech's dealer sales manager has shared this with the sales force. Some dealers have stopped taking names on their waiting list because they know their allocations are far exceeded by the wait list..
Ray.... have no idea why the general manager couldn't assuage your concerns. if he can't... no one here can. 1978... go ask your dealer how many allocations they will receive. If your CA doesn't know, then you need to push that person to contact the sales manager and ask (or do so yourself) before putting down a deposit. Is the dealer in a small city ? 1M allocations have been assigned based on ALL dealers 2010 sales of M cars and 1 series. If you are working with a dealer that does not sell a lot of 1s or Ms.. more than likely just a single allocation for them. For example if your dealer is say... Taylor BMW near Augusta Ga... I'd expect they'll only get a single allocation. If it's an Atlanta area dealer... well then more than likely they'll get more than one allocation. Sure.. no problem! As an FYI compared to other large dealers... I am hearing that Classic BMW in Plano is just getting ready to deliver their second allocation. There are 4 dealers in the DFW area and Classic is probably tops or a close second in terms of overall sales, but I am going to imagine that Houston dealers may sell more 1s and M cars. Seems like all the DFW dealer CAs step customers from 1 series to the 3 series as fast as possible.

If all that doesnt work, start contacting other dealers. That is what I had to do, I was #2 at a large dealer and they found out they were only getting one car for the whole year. Every dealer should already know what they will get and they should tell you if you press hard enough. So, some leg work and lots of rejections later I found a dealer who had a car available and promptly put a deposit down. Just got my production number Friday!

Having a deposit means nothing. As mentioned by numerous folks above, BMWNA is only releasing allocations a few at a time. Until the allocation is made and your build date is assigned, the dealer has no way of guaranteeing that you will get a car. My advice is to talk to as many dealers as possible. I worked with four different dealers and put down two deposits and I still consider myself lucky to have received a June production.
