Magic Paint Pen
Hi all,
I remember not long ago someone mentioned that pen that you can buy at BigW or online that apparently fixes scratches. Well I saw it and gave it a run. Pics below say a thousand words... First pic is a scratch left from the plates that came with the car after I changed to a slimline personalised plate. Second, I used the pen only on the larger scratch. |

As you can see, the first one is a large scratch, that's pretty deep and wide. More like a bunch of scratches rather than one. It helped make it less visible and obvious.
The second, I feel in real life, got rid of it. You would probably still see it right up close if you knew it was there. I am waiting for it to dry and check it out again though. It does leave a large 'smudge' where the 'ink' goes on, so you would want to have good pen skills and only mark the scratch and not use the whole pen tip and leave a fat line of ink. It is a clear ink that goes on, not sure how it works though, maybe it makes the light entering into the ink/scratch disperse a bit so you see more of the colour of your car's paint instead of a white scratch. I feel on a lighter coloured car (white) this pen would work really well. |

My experience was not so good.
See before and after. My scratch is on the top of the boot, so quite visible, and the pen has made it invisible in some angles, but still highly visible at other angles. This shot is about the mid point between the best and worst. (The worst is when you look across the surface and see a reflection of the sky. It stands out like dog's nuts as it is raised above the paint surface.)

Yeah that's what I was trying to describe when I said you can see a 'smudge'. That scratch does look pretty deep though? I only used it on the rear of the car, not on a horizontal surface so it's not so obvious. Also used it on a scratch on the end of the door where it has hit a wall and that worked out great.
I don't want to try it on a place like that for the reason you pictured... |
