e90 Springs on e82?
Ive seen a few people selling lowering springs of a 135 stating they fit an e90 and vice versa.? I know most of the suspension parts are interchangeable, but i wasnt aware that springs are the same?
Will the springs off a e90 actualy work on a e82? |

Springs are the same, meaning they fit but... different spring rates depending on a few factors.

e92 vs e90 - Front Springs are the same based on Engine and transmission differences ( 335i share same springs for front as 135i for MANUAL only, 328i manual and 128i AUTO same thing - 128i would be softer springs for manual) - the rear springs are taller for e90 - see Swift R springs thread in e90post - the sedans seem slammed on e92 springs e92 vs e82 - OEM rear springs are beefier for e92 by less than a mm in diameter of coil. Therefore its possible they will not lower to e82 135i level when used 335i/ 135i front springs will raise the front of a 328i /128i - using SP lowerign perches will lower the extra rise back to OEM sport 128i/328i setting 335i/135i springs should in theory work the same( lowering height) for e92 OR e82- BUT keeping in mind the spring rates THE 135i stand to benefit more. I dont think 335i should use 135i springs, a 328i e92 could get away with it Convertable e88 can probbaly use e92 springs and have no issues

the front resulting height should be in theory the same as e92 because both 135i/335i have used OEM labelled "D6" springs. If you fear a bad result, use SP lowering perches

Random thought: The e90 is heavier than the e82 so doesn't that effect how low the car goes and stuff?

Rear - e90 stock sport spring is longer than e92 sport e92 sport vs 135i rear are about the same physical length, with 335i shorter but with thicker coils by less than 1mm( i checked). Chances are you could get away with it on a 135i/128i if you really want to. The result will be very OEM Msport height. The question is what is the motivation... if you get e9x coils Okay. If you want to use e9x springs be careful with the front and avoid e90 spec. if you want to use e82 on e92 its a risk with the rear for i guess because of weight of e92, but an aftermarket spring like H&R should be okay

Hi guys, sorry for bringing up such an old thread but it didn't seem right to create a new thread when this one is related to exactly what I'm curious about.
My friend has a set of Bilstein B8 shocks + H&R Sport springs that were on his E90 320i. I am wondering if these will fit in my E82 135i. Reading the comments above it seems like they will fit in theory but the 320i springs will probably not lower my 135i ride height by any, if at all.. And then there's the handling aspect which may be impacted due to the difference in weight, is this correct? If anyone could shed any light at all that would be great. Thanks! |

Not sure how much of a deal you're getting, but keep in mind a new set like the Bilstein B12 which comes with B8s + matched Eibach Pro kit springs is less than $700 brand new.....so may not be that much of a stretch to just get new.... |

As an aside, what would OEM E92 M3 rear springs do on a 135i as far as ride height goes (with suitable camber arms and spring seats)? I was thinking I could use a little extra rear rate compared to the Swift Spec-Rs I'm running, M3 is 550lb/in compared to the Swift's 500lb/in
