BMWs are well-engineered cars, but don't always count on them to be tops in a crash test. |

Anyway I guess my only gripe with the 135i ( and all BMW's) is that retarded idrive system. You gotta be a freakin rocket scientist to operate that thing. |

The C6 Corvette is the performance bargain of nigh on all-time. It is a plastic skinned space frame (hydroformed frame - there's some decent high tech) - weighs about 3100 lbs.
And yeah it has a pushrod engine - but remember, it's not all that much older than the DOHC design which dates from 1912 - the only true innovations in gasoline engines since WW II have been in metalurgy and electronics. The Corvette is a world class car minus a world class interior. If you can sneak into a Chevy dealership and arrange a test drive it'll be worth it. |

Weight - and sidewall stiffness are the issues I've heard - personally I've never had runflats on a car - I have driven cars with runflats and they feel like concrete overshoes. ; -)
Oh and after my OT comments on the 'vette - three things I don't like about the 135i:

I am with a lot of people... no true LSD and the run flats. But that is ok. I am going to take the stock wheels and run flats off and get some Time Attacks with some normal rubber.

it is true that when u get a flat u can go about 50 miles at 50mph, however repair costs are significantly higher (can't give u a figure). and worst of all, u don't get a spare tire. so if u can't find someone to repair it within 50 miles of the flat (let's say ur going on a long trip 400+miles) ur screwed. unless u got roadside assistance. |

The question is how progressive will the E-LSD feel engaging and disengaging. (WIll it come on like a hammer and go off with a 'spin'. ; -) That being said, a truly good LSD (a good expensive one, that is ; -) can make all the difference in the world on how a RWD car behaves under acceleration out of a corner. My biggest concern with the diff will be realized if there isn't a 'drain & fill' plug on it. They should have some provision for changing lube. |

I was really hoping for an SMG style trans, not the Auto with paddles.

The AVW DSG is the best imitation of an automatic tranmission by a manual and the ZF 6-spd auto is the best imitation of a manual tranmission by an automatic. (I hold the copyright on that line, BTW ; -) |

OK to all the comments about the E-LSD It sounds like a great street thing but it will be no good for the track. Its using your brakes umm not a good idea on the track. on a tight track you would ware out your rear brakes really quick. Also if it was really any good they would put it in the new M3.
oh ya I also wanted to jump on board with I don't like the fact of no sunroof delete |
