I didn't help much but all come down is your car which you will enjoy the most, so go with what your budget and your gut tell you. At one point I didn't want to drop it cause sport sus is kinda low already, but gotta try it why not right. For $250 I have fun with it

As far as know, there are two types of H&R springs. The Super Sport and the regular sport springs. Super Sport being the more aggresive one and gives the most rake. Also keep in mind that both of this can possibly shorten the life of your stock shocks.

LOL, nice choice of words. Blah blah blah, right? The forum's full of idiots, none of us have ever ghetto modded our own suspensions in the past and learned from our mistakes and tried to tell others? Bah, it must be OK if you think so.
Negative. The majority of cars on the road have linear springs, it's the bump stops that are progressive, and the bump stops are so tall that you hit them often. They're more than just crash stops they are integral suspension parts now. I don't know about all 135i springs specifically as I haven't had this car apart yet, but even for us the 2011's are supposed to have gone to a linear spring and if you look that's exactly what the poster has. The short version is - aftermarket springs, given that they likely have different rates, need some thought put into how well the stock dampers can control them. Assuming you can throw anything on and it'll be fine is naive. |

BMWP suspension will lower about an inch in the front and a little less on the back. Its set it and forget it suspension. I have 18x8.5/9.5 225/255 respectively and no rubbing. Not saying its the best but its easy to install. I have pics if youre interested.

Only an inch drop in the front and 3/4" drop in the rear is not much at all, it shouldn't put much more stress on the factory shocks I wouldn't think? |

I've been contemplating springs / struts as well, had a few thoughts:
* The aftermarket drop-in springs (non coilovers, stuff that fits the OE struts) - are there 2 versions to handle 2011+ (assuming they do have linear springs as mentioned by the performance shops here)? Are they linear or progressive (this can be seen by looking at pictures of them prior to installation)? Would it be a good change or no? * Did BMW see fit to change the struts for 2011+? And did they do it to change the damping or simply for spring fitment? * Any chance an M3 spring / strut combo would swap over? Would have to compare overall weights and weight distribution at a minimum to even think about it. Would also have to have a lift, air tools, and a free M3 suspension on hand to even make it sound like a worthwhile experiment 'cause it'd be a PITA if it didn't work out well. Parts often cross platforms for fitment and we know that other M3 parts work. Even if it fit, and the weight balances were about right, there's still a ride height issue being gambled on heavily. It'd be cool to try though. * Would any of the coilover mfr's be open to providing slightly longer, softer springs? The 2.5" Eibach springs a lot of companies use come in a huge variety of lengths & rates. If there was enough travel on the strut body you could have a coilover setup with a spring rate a little closer to stock, with the ability to lower an inch, still have the necessary suspension travel, and so on. And have a non-killer ride on our crappy MN roads, if that concerned you. |

I have a couple close ups of both the front and rear wheel gap but need to look around for them. Call Tischer or PM Dan at United BMW for pricing. I bought mine slightly used off of 1addicts so paid a lot less.

i personally think... if your so worried about rubbing, then ditch the rims and get a set that's 1 series specific. then you can get any set of springs / coils and not have to worry for your DD.
If your doing A LOT of driving... why skimp out and make your car ride like crap with only springs? The labor price will be the same to install coils and it is for spring/shock combo. I mean you can set coils at 1" drop and get that exact look you want without the headache of hoping the spring kit will work out for you. Treat your baby right. I personally wish i had a video of people running bottom of the line spring kit only suspension with H&R super sport springs on stock dampeners ... that's gotta be hilarious to see that thing bounce down the road!!
