Toyo Proxes R888 installed on Apex
Here are a couple of photos I took today of my 265/35/ZR18 and 285/30/ZR18 Toyo Proxes R888 installed on 18x10 Apex wheels that I used on my 1M at Spa Francorchamps two weeks ago. No rubbing at any corner on stock suspension.
1st side shot is the 285s, second shot is the 265s. I took these so you can see how close to flush these tires/rims are at the 265 size. Don't lay them face down...they will scratch! Hope these images help as you are making tire/wheel decisions.

This is their second track day, the first wasn't as intensive. I really pushed the car and took the track hard, keeping up with quite a few fully built E30s, E36s, and E46s and throw in a Porsche or two....all the cars had cages and stripped interiors and such...the little ole 1M surprised a few BMW drivers/owners in this Dutch BMW driving club. Check out the European forum ans look for Spa Francorchamps for photos.
I thought these tires were fantastic as I only slipped the rear once out of 30+ laps of hard driving. Definitely would consider them again.

very cool but by the looks of it I don't think they have much life left. I heard great things about them but the one thing everyone complains is short life cycle and being pricey. wish I could get a tire sponsor

Thanks for sharing this info!
Any particular reason why you went with square wheels (10") and staggered tires? In other words why not also go with staggered wheels? |

As I was prepping for a full day at Spa, I decided to look for separate track rims and track tires. I got a great deal on these Toyos in staggered sizes...so then had to find good wheels. I ordered the Apex wheels in a squared setup so that when these tires wear out I can changeover to 275s or 285s all the way around, giving me more flexibility for future track days and prolonging the life/wear on the tires.

Reviving this old thread to see if anyone has some insight on this. Looking to run a set of R888's, 275/35-18 all around, on 18x 9.5 Apex Arc-8's ET 22. I'm assuming I'll get rubbing on the fender liner. Has anyone tried these out on the 1M?

Key to making R-comps last is to heat cycle them out properly the first time. I for one would pay the tire shop/vendor to heat cycle them for me since I don't want to lose out on a track day to do it myself.
