Ohh man you went full retard with this one.
Let me show you a picture of my ActiveE - its in the basement so sorry about the light. But I hope that this image clears things up. Also you have a Suburban? Mr I drive 10/10s all the time and value lightness drives a 6000lb SUV? But a Suburban Wagon...hmm. We can work with this concept. The Station Wagon SUV - well call it a SAW for short. That has a nice ring to it? Ohh well make a pedal powered variant and call it the hand-SAW. We can also throw in a few concepts from the Miura, a chain driven transimission. Well call it the Chain-SAW. I think you just made a lot of money for BMW. Last edited by BrokenVert; 08-13-2012 at 12:01 PM.. |

They like to say their car is stiffer, or something like that... Maybe an longing to make up for some other deficiency? |

I'm pretty sure there is really not very much cross shopping between the coupe and vert. People either want one or the other in a car and are going to be looking at 1er verts vs other verts and 1er coupes vs other coupes. Which is also why things like relative chassis stiffness between the two doesn't really matter either.

I don't know about that, it actually sort of works as a disjointed communal stream of consciousnesses.
"I like to have fun, so i bought what I find fun" "but its not stiff enough" ".... uh ok, but I don't really need stuff" "but no really dude its just not stiff enough" "... uh ok its not as stiff as yours, but it still gets the job done for me" "NO DUDE IM TELLING YOU ITS NOT STIFF ENOUGH, and its probably too fat too" "...... ok, I get it man stiff is good fat is bad" "No I dont think you do its not stiff enough for you or me or anyone else" "...." "stiff" "..." "stiff" . . . Not sure what it says but there definitely could be some hidden meaning to be interpreted there. |

You forgot where people come in with real logic - like show me hard data from real sources, or why does less stiff than a coupe mean crap, or I own a 1 series coupe and convertible therefore I actually have a basis for what im saying.
And they go... Its not stiff enough. Its like talking to creationists about evolution! |

substitute your political or religious belief in for every coupe and convertible reference and this would still make the same amount of sense and be rather entertaining too. No one ever wins......

He clearly is in error comparing that coupe to a station wagon, and being insulting in the process. Just as you are being insulting in refusing to allow people to post their opinions. That IS what you're doing, however you want to put it. You're responding to people's opinions by putting them in their place, even though you have made exactly the same compromise yourself. You're a hypocrit, and you're a snob. That's what you've shown this community with your participation here. Nice going.

I just traded my 07 335 sedan for a 2012 Msport vert black top on white and I def didnt want to get another sedan and i definitely dont miss my sedan! nothing like driving with top down rowing through gears with the DCT. It handles better than my sedan as well!

The opinion (subjective) part is whether that is important to you or if you prefer the vert experience enough that you're willing to give up some performance, practicality, and price for it. Whether it's meaningful to you or not, the penalty is still there.

Right, and you want to make sure that people know that the performance penalty is "significant". This in spite of the fact that "significant" is a matter of judgment and opinion, and the fact that you make the same compromise, simply drawing the line in a different place.

Can we somehow introduce the manual vs auto vs DCT argument into the vert vs coupe vs SUV argument...I think it would really spice things up and clarify for owners/potential owners which is crappiest. I just wanna make sure people understand how crappy their choice may have been. It'll be like a public service announcement!
