Interesting. I thought the PITA was rolling the fronts lol. I guess it was trying to get those rears to fit no problem.
Do you think running 235 would be fine without rolling?

The rears are just much more stiff, and have double thickness so you can't fold them over as easily. 235 up front or rear? With our odd offset, I still think you'll need camber up front and rear....you still might cut it close with 235 rears at ET40 Here is a pic of 245 up front with ET40 and a 5mm spacer (essentially ET35) |

Here's a guy running a 100% race prepped 130i. 335bhp with valvetronic locked in full tilt, custom intake manifold with e36 throttle bodies, a race exhaust manifold(used by BMW south africa?) as well as cams and a flowed head etc. Proof that with enough work the n52 can be a great race motor.

^but that would be a TERRIBLE street car engine.
Also not certain that is a "great" race engine. An s54 (admittedly .2 liters more) with that level of prep would be 420-450 hp. The n52, IMO, excels at being an exceedingly light weight, reliable, smooth, well rounded street engine. Last edited by Obioban; 04-12-2014 at 09:40 AM.. |

I don't disagree at all, i'm sure that setup has little to no low end torque. I think it would be a lot of fun to drive on a track, where as an S54 at that prep would be a mighty handful in comparison. In my hands at least since i have 0 track time.
It's just nice to see what numbers are possible from the old BMW "base" motor.

Stock M54 manifold vs ITB on a Dmod motor. Still making 200lb-ft as low as 2500rpm. If I had the cash, I'd have the head ported, custom headers and bask in 260whp+ goodness. |

BMW Car Magazine - Feb 2014 - 130i Race car
Hey Guys
If you recall, this Brunswich Racing Green 130i in UK with ITB in the No Love thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...&postcount=774 Guess what, they were featured in the BMW Car Magazine. I bought a copy, enjoy the read. I like the rear suspension discussion.

I've been noticing some low speed low RPM flutter/misfiring with mine lately. It's only happened 2 or 3 times and It happened when i'm merging in 1st or 2nd gear from a slow roll. It feels like a single misfire/DISA flap shutting for a fraction of a second and then it goes away and doesn't happen for another week or so.
It's been driving fantastic other than that so i guess i'll keep an eye on it.

That's an oddly short coil pack interval...

Yes I agree, but my point is that he replaced all 6 massively early.

I had a misfire after i swapped to the DISA manifold and i just wanted to be preventative. The first owner had 3 NGK and 3 Bosch plugs installed so i wanted to correct that and make sure everything was back to the way it should be.
Though to be honest, it felt more like it was one of the disa flaps shutting and reopening suddenly. The misfire's i had after the manifold swap were much more pronounced than this little hiccup. I also kept my old 5 functioning coil packs to use as test packs for when i have more coil packs go back. If the engine throw's a CEL for misfire i'll start swapping coil packs around to see if that's the issue.
