>>HP Autosport<< Light weight Braille racing battery custom mounting kit
Enjoy up to 40lb weight reduction over the BMW OEM battery by using the HP Autowerks lightweight aluminum battery tray and Braille lightweight racing battery. Yes, you don't need to spend $6K on an Akrapovic exhaust for the same weight savings! Plus the battery mounts above and away from the center of gravity of the vehicle making it even more important to take weight away at those locations. The tray accomodates three different Braille battery sizes. Please choose which battery you would like inlcuded with your HPA battery tray from the options below.
Mounting tray is $269.95 when purchased with a Braille lightweight racing battery. Specs 15 lb Casing: Polymer plastic Weight: 15 lbs. Length: 6.8" Width: 3.4" Height: 6.1" Pulse Cranking Amps: 1,067 Cranking Amps: 574 Cold Cranking Amps: 425 Amp Hour Rating: 21 Warranty: 1-year free replacement Price: $209.99 Specs 21 lb Casing: Polymer plastic Weight: 21 lbs. Length: 6.6" Width: 5.2" Height: 6.8" Pulse Cranking Amps: 1,380 Cranking Amps: 742 Cold Cranking Amps: 550 Amp Hour Rating: 31 Warranty: 1-year free replacement Price: $241.49 Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) All Braille batteries feature an industry leading energy-to-weight ratio accomplished via Enhanced Mat Technology (for more surface area on the lead plates) combined with calcium full frame power path grids (for increased cranking power). Durability is also built into every Braille battery. Using high-density oxide, Braille batteries offer true deep-cycling ability over the life of the battery. Heavy-duty vibration resistant power posts resist cracking and deterioration common to many lightweight batteries used in harsh automotive environments. The battery is a sealed unit that can be mounted in any position safely using its adjustable automotive terminal posts. Braille batteries include a one-year free replacement limited warranty that is not pro-rated. This same battery is installed in the Berk Technology's Redline Time Attack Race Car, our Red Line Time Attack 335i and our project 135i and 1M. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259353 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...t=project+135i Order here: https://www.hpashop.com/HPA-Battery-...?categoryId=-1 Note: We recommend a minimum of 21 lb battery for E8x 1-series. Some vehicles may require "Battery Replacement Registration" for the charging system to properly charge the battery. ***ONLY 21 lb hold-down's and trays are available at this time*** Last edited by HP Autosport; 05-23-2022 at 05:05 PM.. |

Do these light weight batteries last as long as OEM (regular) batteries?
In short, is there any catch to switching my 135 (or even 325) to this lightweight battery? Any negatives? |

Generally reduced capacity and CCA. If you have any parasitic loss it can strand you very quickly.

I have done a personal test on a 2011 135i by letting the radio run for a couple of hours, no issues there. Park the car for over 2 weeks, it started right up. |

Would the vehicle not need to be recoded for the 21lb battery, is that why you recommend that one in particular?

I've been wondering this also. Would one not have to code the battery for a lower CCA(1380)/CA(550) over the standard battery?

Ideally, I would like to try and run a 15 lb battery during the summer and swap out to OEM during fall/winter and non-autox seasons |

You may under or over charge the Braille so we still recommend you performing a new battery registration.
