I followed that for a while and no one seemed to have any luck.. Seems that the N55 is very sensitive. I'd still like to try it one of these days..

No fix. Only way to pass is running a tune that auto clears like jb4

If it's an actual inspection where they will look underneath, then it probably won't work for you. Like mentioned you will need a DP fix. If it's just a plug and scan looking for OBD readiness, then it will work. I used 42 draft design bc they are angled and allowed for enough clearance on my n54. Got em from Leo off etektuning.com. I passed without any problems, never had a CEL and I'm running a dinan tune

If it's just OBD inspection I'm telling you the 42 draft spacers worked for me. Not sure how much it differs for the N55 but I passed smog 2 months ago with no problems at all.

When your state inspection place reads the OBDII memory... they will be looking for those six "ready codes". I think your car needs to be in three out of the "ready state". I don't think that o2 spacers would help in that case. ?

Ok so I know ALL about MASS inspections since I have been sent to the MAC (mass auto compliance) center for my evo x before.
Those saying JB4 autoclear, will not work in this state. That won't throw the code on the dash, but it will never reach a ready state. Your only hope of passing in MA with catless on an N55 is to use a spacer. This allows you to keep the o2 monitoring on and ready. There is no way to know which will or won't work on your car. The only thing you can do is make sure you have code clearing on JB4 or cobb 100% off, install your spacers. Drive for 100 miles or so, and see if the codes pop. If they do you need different spacers. Vibrant makes an adjustable spacer with 3 different sized inserts. I'd suggest that since if one throws a code you can install the more or less restrictive spacer and allow more or less gasses to hit the o2 sensor as needed. For N54 cars just turn of all code suppression (JB4 or Cobb) and install the DPFIX which is just great. |

Did you end up getting this done? How long have you been running the spacer, and what O2 spacer did your mechanic use?

i then had him take that off and space the 2nd 02 sensor, which required the DP to be dropped from the car (not completely, just enough to squeeze it in). the spacer on the 2nd o2 sensor was slightly bent like a C shape. this also threw codes (listed above a few posts) that would not pass emissions. all in all, spacers dont work for the N55 in my thorough opinion and experience. stock DP is on the car now until i get my sticker
