Hello all I have some concerns for my 1. I gave it the ol' diy oil change about a month ago and dont recall spilling any oil into the engine bay. Recently after a drive I'll be sitting at a stoplight and see some smoke coming up from the right hand side of the engine. On further inspection I opened the hood and could smell oil but not see any leakage. No visible oil in the ground EVER! The smoke was coming from the left side of the engine bay when you open the hood.
Side note sometimes when I have the heat on I get a very foul smokey smell. I actually have to open the windows it's that bad. Any ideas suggestions what could be wrong. Over 132,000 miles and I'm the second owner. |

The plastic valve cover has a tendency to develop cracks...
Also check your oil filter housing(OFH) gasket for leakage... but thats not on the hot side of the engine.

UPDATE
Found out the oil gasket went and oil is spilling on the left side(looking under the hood) of the engine thus causing the smoking. Getting it replaced asap.
