New to us 2011 135i DCT
Hey guys,
Little about myself, I have loved and hated working on cars since 18, turboed Hondas, fully built high comp NA Hondas, a FBO 05 STI, and FBO 15 WRX have been my accomplishments along with some Auto X times under the belt. My wife and I decided picked up a new 'garage queen' a few weeks ago. We traded in our 2015 WRX with around 20k miles on it for this fantastic machine of a car with 23k miles on it. This car is a BLAST to drive, and I dont have to worry about throwing a rod through the block with more than 300~ lbs of trq. I figured the cost of owning a BMW are a lot less than a Subaru (I have owned two, and STI and new WRX), especially after they blow up from STOCK power. Looking to do FBO, suspension, and possibly PURE stage 1 turbo, I am blessed to have Wedge Performance here locally to help me. Ken is awesome! We plan on tracking this part time, but overall just enjoying a awesome car. I am impressed with this machine, and it probably wont be the only BMW in this household, I have my eye on a E46 M3 in the near future Anyways.. Here are some pics of when we first test drove and the day we picked her up. I havent had a chance to really take some decent ones, it has looked like shit out here for the last few weeks. Looking forward to everything! |

Just purchased a BMS OCC and BMS Chargepipe used. Those things never wear out
This car is essentially the auto, 3 litre, 6 cylinder version of my WRX. The new WRX came with a 2.0 DIT engine with a single twin scroll turbo as well. Just without the tranny and engine issues when you push more than 300 wheel anything . |

If driven in full auto mode, it can be just as boring as an ordinary auto transmission. This can also be very convenient if you're stuck in a lot of stop and go traffic. |

I love the DCT, lightning quick shifts, and convenience top it all off. Though I will aim for a MT6 on the E46 M3 though |

I agree about the E46 M3 and the manual. Who would want the SMG? |

I didnt even know what SMG was until I was looking at some E46s. We were going to get a SMG at the time 2006 M3, the high mileage of 100k scared me, but it was original owner, stack of receipts. I dont think the M series should be in anything but a manual, but I would let it slide for one of the newer turboed ones, M3/M4 bodystyles, theeir sexiness is worth it, plus EIGHT speed
Hell, I still dont even know what SMG is lol I just know it is their 'auto' I mean I should come to expect them to be high mileage, I should look more at how well it has been maintained. At least with the 135i, I have a Carfax record of everything done, and they were all performed at the BMW dealer I bought it at too. EDIT The CVT transmission in the newer WRXs BLOWS if you want to make any power (which people try and fail). The stock MT6 could barely handle 350 lbs of trq, what makes you think a garbage CVT would handle more? Lol. I had the MT6 luckily, wanted to swap to the STI one, one of the best drivetrains, ever |

The SMG was the worst transmission I've ever driven. You should look into that as well to see what I'm talking about. Most will agree that it's a pos. Last edited by Esteban; 02-03-2016 at 04:07 PM.. |

Welcome to the boards! I came from an 07 STi (FPRed turbo, protune etc) and 06 EVO MR. I do not miss my STi or EVO one bit!
Looking forward to seeing you mod that beast . |
